I worked at Guidance Software full-time for more than 3 years

There are interesting engineering problems to solve within the company and its possible to work on many different products. There is a cafeteria on the fifth floor which is discounted for employees and has good food. There are some standing desks although it's not guaranteed that you will get one. The people in the company are very friendly and it's possible to talk directly to customers if you attend the training courses on the second floor. There are whiteboards everywhere which makes collaborating with other people very easy.

Historically there has been a big divide in R&D, but this appears to be changing. There is no option to work from home.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make the cafeteria free for employees. Free food makes everyone happy.

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks - interviewed at Guidance Software.

    Interview Details

I went through two phone interviews, then a face to face interview at their main headquarters. My phone interviews went very well and I spent $1200 all in to fly across the country to interview in person at this company. I was hopeful but did not get the job, and that's ok.

What bothered me was that after spending a considerable amount of time and money on their interview process, all I got was an auto-generated email from their HR system saying "Sorry, the position has been filled." That was really disappointing. Now I'm not expecting a hug and a pat on the back, but a simple email saying "thanks for taking the time" would have been more than fine. I know that may sound petty, but it really made them seem like elitists who were doing me a favor by allowing me to interview there.
