Working at the HCT was a roller coaster in both good and bad ways, and I really enjoyed working there."

    Negative Outlook
    Negative Outlook

Many people at the institution are committed to student success, and the students themselves are amazing. It was a privilege to associate with them and to be part of their education.

Policy and personnel changed more than most of us enjoyed. Job security seemed non-existent, even among the most excellent faculty and management.

    Advice to Management

I can't really advise the top managers. The vast majority of employees are from outside the UAE, and as an outsider myself, I can't judge their actions. They know what is best for their own people, and they have a huge responsibility to the younger generation.

    Difficult Interview

I applied online. The process took 4+ monthsinterviewed at HCT (Dubai (United Arab Emirates)) in February 2011.

The interview was done using Skype. I interviewed with two department heads simultaneously. One department head played 'mean interviewer' and one played 'nice interviewer'. I found out that other faculty had had the same experience.

    Interview Questions

    • One interviewer was intentionally rude. This seems to be part of the HCT interviewing strategy.   1 Answer

I was asked to state how much I would accept before I interviewed.
