HEINEKEN USA Inc., the nation's leading upscale beer importer, is a subsidiary of Heineken International BV, the world's most international brewer. European brands imported into the U.S. include Heineken Lager, the world's most international beer brand, Heineken Light, Amstel Light, Newcastle Brown Ale, and Strongbow cider. HEINEKEN USA also imports the Dos Equis portfolio, Tecate portfolio, Sol, Indio, Carta Blanca and Bohemia brands from Mexico. For a safe ride home, download the HEINEKEN USA-sponsored Taxi Magic™ application from your smartphone at taximagic.heineken.com.

Brewed since 1863, Heineken Lager is the company’s flagship brand and the first imported beer to reach America's shores in the 1880s and again in 1933, following the repeal of prohibition. Since its inception in 1995, HEINEKEN USA has been dedicated to maintaining the strong heritage, premium ingredients and superior quality of its namesake brand.

As leader in the upscale beer segment, HEINEKEN USA has built a reputation for excellence both in the products it sells and the manner in which it conducts business. HEINEKEN USA was founded on the values of enjoyment of life, passion for quality and respect for society, and is committed to making a positive impact where its employees live and work, and where consumers enjoy its products. They are the first brewer in the world to place a responsibility message on all bottles and cans, and the first alcohol company to place a responsibility message on all advertising. HEINEKEN USA is committed to encouraging the responsible consumption of its products.

At Heineken USA, we are proud of our world-class portfolio and maintain an ongoing commitment to provide consumers and customers with the best portfolio of imported brands.

Brands imported into the U.S. by Heineken USA include: Heineken Lager, the world’s most international beer brand; Amstel Light, a leading imported light beer brand; and Buckler non-alcoholic brew.

In 2005, Heineken USA pioneered the Luxury Light beer category, re-positioning Amstel Light and test marketing Heineken Premium Light (HPL) in Providence, RI; Tampa, FL; Phoenix, AZ; and Dallas, TX. The Luxury Light category leverages two macro consumer trends, where the preference for consumability meets the preference for a trade-up to affordable luxuries.

In March 2006, Heineken USA began national roll-out of Heineken Premium Light. The introduction of Heineken Premium Light marked the first major brand addition created by Heineken in its 133-year history of brewing excellence and is consistent with Heineken USA’s strategy to expand and optimize its product portfolio and capture an ever-growing share of the premium import specialty segment of the US beer market.

In April 2007, Heineken USA and FEMSA Cerveza extended an agreement that made Heineken USA the sole and exclusive importer, marketer and seller of FEMSA’s beer brands in the United States through 2018. These brands include Dos Equis, Tecate, Sol, Carta Blanca and Bohemia. The agreement joined the two most complementary imported beer brand portfolios in the United States for the long term.

On September 1, 2008, Heineken USA assumed the rights to import, market and sell Newcastle Brown Ale in the United States. This addition to the Heineken USA portfolio serves as a platform for future growth as the brand will be one of the top national sales priorities for the organization, along with brands Heineken Lager, Heineken Premium Light and Dos Equis. The acquisition of importation rights for Newcastle Brown Ale by Heineken USA follows the acquisition of Scottish & Newcastle plc ("S&N") by Heineken N.V. and Carlsberg A/S, which was finalized following approval by the shareholders of Scottish & Newcastle and Heineken N.V. and the endorsement of a range of regulatory bodies, on April 28, 2008.

Company continues to find the right balance between being a fun place to work and driving a performance culture. Much better on the performance dimension than years ago but still making progress. Also, the move from a single-brand company to a portfolio company has generated complexity. The company is working to simplify for the front-lines. It's better than it has been -- but it's still a journey.

    Advice to Management

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeksinterviewed at HEINEKEN USA in November 2014.

Long and tedious interview process. You would think you were applying for the astronaut training program. Here's what to expect: Personality Test (online), Cognitive Reasoning test (timed online). Think mini-SAT type of tests. 2 Phone interviews minimum. If you're still going...you qualify for the onsite interview. You'll need to prepare a 5 - 10 minute presentation on a topic of their choosing (generally your approach to doing the job), you'll deliver that presentation to panel, and then answer situational & behavioral questions from that panel in their format.

    Interview Questions

    • Many questions asked one after the other by the panel. You'll need to think fast.   1 Answer
