I worked at HVB Group part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Interesting work, older colleagues open for questions. Great constructive feedback from supervisors. Good ambience among fellow working students in the department.

    Cons

Research sometimes surprisingly superficial. In one case growth rates for a country were "estimated" by downloading the IMF numbers and simply adjusting them to make them look coherent with related data. Not a very scientific method

    Application Details

I applied online. The process took 3+ weeksinterviewed at HVB Group in November 2010.

    Interview Details

I have applied by sending a Resume and a Cover Letter. Then, after three weeks I've received an email setting a phone interview. Fortunately it was with a person from the team i was applying to and not with a HR - the questions were quite basic, nothing really special. after a week I've been invited to an 1:1 interview in Munich. The interview was really well structured, with clear program, which i received some days before. I have been interviewed by 4 couples of guys from the team (1 senior+1 junior each couple) and had a lunch with one director. it was based mostly on technical questions and on many other topics regarding the current economy condition, markets and the data from my CV.

Good thing the word "bank" is similiar in so many languages. UniCredit Bank (formerly Bayerische Hypo- und Vereinsbank, and now doing business as HypoVereinsbank or HVB Group) is one of Germany's largest banks, after Deutsche Bank and Commerzbank. The company operates more than 775 branches throughout the country and maintains a location in New York City. HypoVereinsbank is organized into three divisions: corporate and investment banking, retail banking, and private banking. Corporate and investment banking accounts for more than three-fourths of its revenue... More
