I have been working at Harry and David full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

The most stimulating, though-provoking, inspiring & rewarding career I have ever had is with H & D to date. I am treated as a business owner. It is titillating to go to work every day and create, learn, and share new or re-envisioned recipes. Our product is top of the line - exquisite. I am proud to work for a luxury retailer and more proud to represent this brand.
Our customers are the best - and we have such an opportunity to gain an abundance of loyal followers out there - who have yet to experience our expertly crafted delights (this product is beyond delicious)
I feel highly valued as a robust contributor to our team of leadership professionals. The company encourages us to share best practices and is embarking on a fantastic accountability journey, that we will all learn & grow with.
I am most devoted to Harry and David due to my leader.
She is a dynamic leader who inspires her team and holds them accountable to a high standard of performance. I have had the distinct pleasure of working with her for a short time, but her visits add immediate value to the field organization. She is a thoughtful, focused and deliberate leader who works through training and development of her team to drive top results, in addition, laser focused to ensure each new initiative maximizes the potential in the field. Not only is she a motivated person who cares passionately about the company, she also cares for her people and as a result we are willing to work harder for her.

    Cons

Not the highest on the pay scale, but bonus potential
    Antiquated hardware, software, systems
    Invest more hours in training

    Second Assistant Manager Interview

    Anonymous Employee in Washington, PA
    Anonymous Employee in Washington, PA
    Application Details

I applied online. The process took a weekinterviewed at Harry and David in December 2014.

    Interview Details

When I was contacted the store manager was very friendly. She was off for two days when I called back so I scheduled my interview a few days later. That's when it went down hill. When I got there for my interview, I heard the store manager and an associate talking about how funny it would be to make me stand there like an idiot before I was taken back for my interview. For some reason they didn't like the fact that I had 7 years of retail experience and promotions within a single company? The assistant manager said "oh this is the only job you've had?" They had me step out for a moment while they discussed. The store manager came back out and said "we have other candidates too. We'll be in touch" and basically pushed me out of the store. I never heard back. So rude and unprofessional that I would not have accepted an offer I had one.
