I worked at Helsinki University of TechnologyDoesn't RecommendNegative OutlookDoesn't RecommendNegative Outlook
Potentially strong research profile with the topics that they cover. Helsinki has a very complete spectrum of education on offer.
My experience have been that the university staff does not honour the core ideas of what it means to be a university. Government- and corporate influence is not favourable for an ethical pursuit of true scientific activities. There is a lot of "propaganda research" going on that holds unfortunately for all Finnish universities. Additionally, it has been the reviewers painful experience that the research staff is nit capable of sticking to gentlemen agreements. It is advisable to pin every agreement down into written contracts that all parties sign.
Advice to Management
Re-discover what the proper role of a university should be in society. It is not to be a high-level propaganda-"science" deliverer for state- and corporate interests to maximize tax revenues. Also, start to honour gentlemen agreements.
