I worked at Herbert Smith full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I met people that were willing to support fellow employees and who were always open to socialising outside of work, which made the long hours so much more bearable

    Cons

The work can be a bit boring at trainee level and it is sometimes difficult to retain any enthusiasm for the more administrative tasks. There is also a lot ofpolitics, which can mean that working is about a lot more than just doing your job

    Interview

i would recommend applying for a vacation scheme. the interview for this involved reading a document and then going through the materials with two partners. i had a good/bad cop situation. i kept answering the questions in a legalistic way but quickly realised they wanted you to think more of business relationship solutions not just suing whoever! the training contract interview after the vacation scheme was comparatively relaxed. the internship is basically a 2-week interview, so if you don't mess that up, you're in!
