We are actively recruiting for multiple positions throughout the firm. Highland offers challenging opportunities for individuals of various backgrounds and levels of experience. The firm is extremely selective in its hiring practice, and will only give serious consideration to individuals who demonstrate strong intellectual capabilities as well as an eagerness to take on and solve complex problems.

The majority of our investment professionals are Directors. There is the opportunity to advance to a Managing Director role based on a combination of performance and experience.

Furthermore, Highland is continually canvassing the market for talented individuals to join our Accounting, Finance, Marketing, Technology and Administrative teams. These positions offer selected candidates the opportunity to gain a macro view of how a complex and diverse investment portfolio functions on a daily basis.

If you are interested in being considered for a position at Highland, or any of our portfolio companies, we invite you to explore our open positions online. We will then ask you to submit a resume and provide us with additional information that may not be included in your resume. If we determine there is a fit between your background and our needs, we will schedule a phone interview, which may be followed by one or more in-person interviews at our office.

Highland Capital Management as a Destination Workplace

    Current Employee - Anonymous Employee

I have been working at Highland Capital full-time (Less than a year)

The company is a great fit for people who are willing to put in the work while achieving results. There are some extremely smart people working throughout all levels of the company. I mention this because it's a fairly flat organization in terms of communication and cooperation. This includes exposure to upper levels of management.

I wouldn't necessarily call this a negative, but it should be pointed out that exposure to senior-level management also implies a high level of accountability.

    Difficult Interview

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Highland Capital.

The interview process to work at Highland was quite extensive. After submitting a resume I was invited to the office for a morning of interviews. I interviewed with two members of the HR team and 2 members of the Investor Relations team. After the onsite interviews I had two phone interviews with members of the IR team that were traveling. Once I made it through all of the interviews I was sent a lengthy case study. I received the case at 5:00 PM on a Friday night and it was due at 8:00 AM Monday morning. Do not take the case study lightly, it will take the entire weekend to complete. A few days after turning in the case study I had a call with the team leader to go over what I had turned in and answer any questions that they had about my work. I received a call from HR a couple days later and was offered the position.

    • I was asked questions to test my proficiency at systems and skills that I had listed on my resume.   Answer Question
