I have been working at Highwoods Properties full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Great support system. If you have a question, almost any other accountant can answer it for you and they encourage that you ask questions. Pay is good for the work, can easily complete all work within a 40 hour work week. Every one is nice.

    Cons

If you've been doing general accounting work and want something more challenging then there isn't a lot of that directly accessible. You can ask for more complex stuff and they are happy to consider it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I think for any company it would be helpful for all employees to be able to see the job duties of the next possible promotion for that employee's position along with the base salary. I think this would help motivate people more to stay with a company and understand what is needed for the next step up.

    Application Details

I applied online. The process took 2+ monthsinterviewed at Highwoods Properties.

    Interview Details

Initially contacted by a member of HR to set up a phone interview with accounting team. On phone interview they asked about my skills, experience, and resume. After that I scheduled a face to face interview. In the face to face they didn't delve too much into my background and experience. It was more getting to know the candidate. There were 3 rounds (basically there were 2 divisions hiring for an accountant so I met with each division not knowing this) Last round was with Director and CAO who were very nice and personable. If the CAO doesn't come in then you most likely aren't getting the job.

    Negotiation Details
Like any job, most likely the offer is based upon your previous salary. Don't be afraid to ask for more. I would highly suggest saying "I was looking for a little more."
