I worked at Home Fundraising full-time for more than a year

Good social experience, lots of hanging out after work. You feel like you are making a difference to the Charity through raising money, albeit slightly guilty for receiving a salary for your work.
I absolutely loved this job- I am very sociable and always friendly, which some people might find hard when you are knocking 40-80 doors a day. So if you don't want to speak to lots of people you've never met before in a row this isn't for you- but if you like meeting people it's great! I loved my team leader and I was put on a team with a car so never had to get the bus/train to locations... and got to go on little trips to locations far away, which I loved! Fair enough we stayed in holiday inn or something, but it was free! Basically if you are good at it it's a great job, and the bonus system means you can actually make alot of money ( I think it was £30 per sign up after the first 5 in a week when I was there). I left because I got sick- may have been from being outside but I didn't want to leave!

Lots of time spent outside which is tough when it's cold. And you work about 2pm to 9pm so it can be alittle unsociable for meeting others on work nights. Not that much room for advancement past being a team leader. Also..... if you are not to good at getting sign ups and you don't hit the target for a few weeks in a row then I think it's kind of depressing. If you're averaging below the target (which is low but sometimes getting sign ups is harder than you think) they will have a lot of talks with you and basically want to get rid of you after a while. And if you're a boy it can be harder, people don't seem to mind slamming doors in boy's faces! I'm a girl and I never got this, but saw it happen to lots of others on my team. But, if you're a people person I definitely say give it a go doing this! You could earn lots of money in a job that you love.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try and make the experience more equal for all teams- it's great if your TL has a car, but the teams who have to travel and walk long distances have it alot harder, Also, maybe pay for the travelling expenses- when I was there this didn't happen but maybe it does now. But apart from that Home Fundraising is awesome!

I applied online - interviewed at Home Fundraising.

    Interview Details

Come into an office and take your seat. You fill out a little form with general details and a couple of silly questions like ''who would play you in a movie?'' Two tasks one is the typical introduce/sell your partner, the other is to introduce a problem and solve it. Basically show tonnes of confidence and be smiley. The people there (interviewers) are all practically on happy juice and ecstatic to work there so show the same sentiments.

    Interview Questions
    • Think of your own problem and how you'd solve it. Very vague q, didn't say HOW big/small the problem would be.   Answer Question
