I worked at IMAX full-time (more than 10 years)

IMAX is a very cool company to work for. The office is nice and the people are really great. The office politics aren't bad for a company. The benefits are good and you get to see a lot of great movies.

The salaries aren't very high. They don't seem to value long-term employees as much as some other companies might.

    Application Details

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4+ weeksinterviewed at IMAX in August 2014.

    Interview Details

I was referred by the VP in the department for an entry level interview. I skipped the HR interview and went straight to the interview with 2VPs and my future mentor. I had individual interview with all 3 of them. Each of them spent about half an hour. It's some general questions such as your past experience, why IMAX, what makes you think you are a good fit. etc. They spent quite a good time explaining the duties of the position. It definitely seems like a wonderful company to work with tho.

    Interview Questions
    • Not much hard questions. The most unexpected thing was they told me if they dont have to interview other people they would hire me right away, but ended up didn't give me an offer after a month's wait.   Answer Question

Forget Mothra, Godzilla, and King Kong: IMAX gives new meaning to the term "monster vision." The company makes and leases projection and sound systems for some 520 giant-screen IMAX theaters in some 45 countries. Screens reach heights of up to 80 feet. About 400 of the theaters are located in commercial multiplex theaters, while the rest are in museums and science centers. All are licensed to use the IMAX name; operators pay maintenance and royalty fees to IMAX. The company also produces special-format films, such as "Under the Sea 3D", which are shown on its projection... More
