Former Employee - Engineering Co-Op in Glenview, IL

I worked at Illinois Tool Works as an intern (more than an year)

    Pros

Very laid back cultur, from what I understand they had great benefits for full-time employees and definite opportunity for growth. Time-off was permitted per policy.

    Cons

Promotions and such were hard to come by without knowing the right people. Definite case of some of what you know, but more "who you know."

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Competency tests or promotions based on reviews. Social skills are important, but so are management styles, knowledge, and experience.

    Application Details

I applied through college or university. The process took 2 weeksinterviewed at Illinois Tool Works.

    Interview Details

Interview with 5 different Engineers from the company lasting about 2 hours. Questions included experience, hobbies, and some basic engineering problems. All said and done was about a two week period waiting for an answer, in which I was required to complete a drug screen and submit infor for credit/background checks. Pretty normal job process - some challenging questions.
