InnerWorkings – Why Work For Us?

who we are

InnerWorkings focuses on making marketing happen for the brands we serve. At most major brands, the production of branded materials, marketing campaigns and retail experiences across formats and geographies represents a major blind spot. Typically, this is handed over to procurement or agencies that just aren’t equipped to handle the complexities involved.  As a result, they tend to rely on vendors they have a relationship or comfort level with, or those who just offer the lowest bid, so there’s no accountability for brand quality or the waste, inefficiency and excess costs that are hidden throughout the process.

Brands like Unilever, Pizza Hut and Nike outsource their marketing execution to us because we bring a smarter, data-driven approach to marketing production – including point of sale and direct mail, retail environments, packaging, events and promotions, and branded materials.  We do it by leveraging our expertise, supplier network and proprietary technology – ensuring that every brand campaign is delivered with precision, impact, and accountability.

connected globally, networked locally

Our combination of on-the-ground expertise, strong supplier relationships and scale of operations in all major worldwide markets sets us apart. This is not a partner-driven global footprint – our global team is comprised of more than 1,500 InnerWorkings employees, all of whom have many years of experience and deep expertise across our full service portfolio.

There is a great and visionary team in place that is dealing with enormous operational and technical challenges that go alongside with a company that has experienced rapid growth in a short amount of time. The team tackles all of this with a lot of energy and enthusiasm. As an employee there, I feel supported and encouraged by most of the functional units, though there are definitely areas of improvement. There are a lot of exciting opportunities that make it a great place to learn and gain practical experience in a hands-on way I doubt would be possible in many other organizations.

HR is not very helpful in terms of helping employees grow. The benefits are also very lacking. Negotiate hard before taking a job offer. The company also tends to prefer bringing on management from outside the company rather than helping groom the current employees to fulfill the needs of the organization. Planning is also not the company's strength, though it is getting better as the company transitions from startup mode (though already large) to a more appropriate corporate format.

    Advice to Management

Not everybody responds to the same kinds of incentives and encouragement. Though the company is sales-driven, not everybody should be managed like a sales team.

I applied online – interviewed at InnerWorkings.

Disjointed. No organizational structure - they would tell me to interview one place and switch it the next day. Junior employees were interviewing me; i never once met with HR. It was a complete joke.
