I have been working at Innovative Interfaces, Inc full-time (More than 3 years)
Every company has its issues and Innovative is certainly not perfect but I look forward to coming to work every day. I really believe that while there have certainly been a lot of changes in the past 2-3 years, the current management team (we have the best R&D, Product, Services, Sales and Support management that we have had in years, let's hope they stay!) have a clear vision for where we are going: Library Success, Customer Success and Product leadership. If you are a software engineer we are doing some really challenging product stuff with Open Stack, Mobile, Analytics and content management. If you are a librarian you will find many wonderful people here that share your background and that have interesting, challenging jobs making sure that we are building the products that libraries really need or helping our customers everyday to get the most out of our software.
There is no question that we could do with a few more heads in some departments, my understanding is that we are moving in the direction of doing something about that. We also have some catching up to do to get the level of Support we provide our customers back up to the level it was at a few years ago but it looks like we are getting on the right track there. Overall I see things moving in the right direction. If I don't see improvement in 6 months I'll be back to change my review!
Advice to Management
Continue to recognize that there are other legs to the company management stool besides cost management. Continue down the path of investment in improving the customer experience and of course of investing in employees. Happy employees make for happy customers.
Getting an Interview
Getting an Interview
- Accepted OfferNeutral ExperienceAverage Interview
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Innovative Interfaces, Inc (Emeryville, CA) in November 2012.
I don't remember the details but the process was similar to other companies, i.e. four person, one-on-one, interview with initial phone interview with the Director of R&D. The applications are based on old C-code and we are building mobile applications and new SDK platform, however, with the departure of the VP of engineering the future system architecture is unknown (he was in the middle of designing a new architecture).
