    Interview

    My experience started out with a phone screening with the internal recruiter, then I completed an online assessment, then had a phone interview with the hiring manager, and then a 2 hour in-person interview. I researched and prepped for each conversation, I sent thank you letters, I took time away from my current job to take the phone calls and took PTO for the in-person interview. The recruiter requested I provide my SS# and backup financial documentation for them to complete my background check. Though I don't normally provide such information until I have an offer (in this day and age I guard my identity with my life), they insisted this was required in order to get to the offer stage. So I gave them what they asked for because I was genuinely interested in this position with this company. During this period the communication was fluid, timely, and the recruiter was very responsive. I was told they would let me know their decision within the next week. I was very impressed, and excited at the prospect of potentially working for a company that was respectful of its candidates and had its act together! Then... everyone went dark. A week went by, and no word. So I sent an email reiterating my interest and asking if they'd made a decision. Another week, no response. I left a voice mail. Another week, no response. I sent a final email, and then gave up. I still can't believe the total lack of courtesy and professionalism, as it was in stark contrast to my experience when they were 'courting' me. I spent a lot of time and effort going through this process and this company wouldn't even let me know the status of the position or that I was no longer being considered. It takes 30 seconds to send such an email, yet instead I was just ignored. Very disappointing on many levels.
