    Lots of ncome potential Opportunity to move to management if you work hard enough Delicious food, very easy to sell


    Management plays favorites Very long hours Management doesn't cut during the slow season Very different serving style than normal, difficult to acclimate to at first, but once understood becomes second nature.

    Advice to Management

    Stop wasting taste plate every day. Reward your staff with outings and team events. Stop playing favorites and rotate the sections, good and bad, with the entire wait staff.

    I applied in-person – interviewed at J. Alexander's.


    It was very casual and laid back. The manager asked many basic or 'typical' interview questions. I never was put in an uncomfortable spot. I didn't have much job experience prior, but it seemed like it was fine. The interview was quite short, however. It lasted about five minutes and was really informal. They like to know about your time management skills and if you're personable.
