Our Financial Focus
John Hancock's core retail products in the U.S. focus on providing financial solutions at every stage of our clients' lives. Absolutely the best company I have ever worked for; amazing people, amazing leadership, benefits and salary were top of the line. Endless resources for training, mentoring programs, opportunities to move throughout the organization, encouraged to grow and succeed. The Executive leadership has been exceptional for decades, and gets better with each succession. Keith Hartstein led the company in a progressive, ethically strong direction and Andrew Arnott has furthered that mission expertly. This company genuinely cares about its employees, investors, shareholders, and business partners. Top to bottom, the company ethic is to do absolutely everything possible to be a respected and trusted institution. Seek any opportunity to work at John Hancock. Be part of the best.
Leadership in some areas of the company had struggled to remain cohesive during a period of internal consolidation of branches of the organization. Excellent people departed the company, and that left huge holes and gaps. The people left behind have stepped up and steered the ship in an extremely positive manner. So, this isnt really a "con", but an example of how the company can navigate through tricky waters and come out shining.
Advice to Management
Continue to push towards excellence. Encourage employees to pursue many roles at the company, allow them to gain exposure. That is a great asset.

I applied through other source. The process took 5 weeks – interviewed at John Hancock (Boston, MA).
Typical of a large shop, a junior HR recruiter calls for an initial phone screen for pay requirements and the availability for an interview. Arrived at building at was required to fill out a ton of paperwork. Met with the MF Director and another guy in her office. Both very nice provided a solid overview of the company, the culture at JH as compared to other mutual fund shops and the expectations for the job role. Questions were great and targeted to the job role and leadership responsibilities. Next, I was interviewed by 2 junior level managers. Both seemed unprepared and both just struggled to ask relevant questions. One was asking questions out of scope to try and stump me. Last I met with HR staff member to debrief the interview. Shortly after the interview I called HR to inform them that I was no longer interested in the position. Good senior level leadership in the MF area, though the junior level managers were as impressive.
