    Negative Outlook

I worked at Jungbunzlauer full-time (More than a year)

For fresh Chemical & Biochemical Engineers this is a very good learning platform and for experienced ones good technical challenges. New upcoming projects, good opportunities to expand plant capacity.

One has to be prepared for facing racism, particularly those having English as second language. Plant employees firmly believe that only people with English as first language has brain. Their world is limited to Niagara region and Canada as country, neither aware of outside of this nor have any desire to about it.

    Advice to Management

Diversity index of their employees to be improved, few training programs will not solve the purpose. Participants just listen from one ear and throw out from another.

    Process Engineer Interview

Anonymous Employee in Port Colborne, ON (Canada)
    No Offer
    Negative Experience
    Average Interview

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Jungbunzlauer (Port Colborne, ON (Canada)) in March 2015.

Very hostile interview process. I had no prior experience with their process and they knew it well through the headhunter who recommended me. What I thought they will focus on are my tranferrable skills in Engineering processes and people management. Instead, the top guys from operations and manufacturing bombarded me with questions about why would I even think of applying to this position. Constant interruption was frequent. One of the interviewers who was especially annoying kept staring at me to the point where I felt a bit awkward. Apparently the other one was his junior and in the middle of the interview he started scolding his direct report about how bad he is with plant housekeeping. Bad demonstration of company culture.

    Interview Questions

    • What salary do you expect? (unprofessional question to ask a candidate recommended by a headhunter, salary discussions were uncalled for in the company interview)   1 Answer
    • Why?   1 Answer
    • Why this number? Why should I pay you this much? You don't even have relevant experience .......   1 Answer
    • (again interrupting me)....then may be you must ask for a lower salary for now and later ask for a raise when you prove yourself. why should I invest in an inexperienced person....blah blah blah (screaming)   1 Answer
