I worked at KLAS Enterprises full-time for more than a yearPros
The perks for the tech team are much better than most companies in Utah. Went to a good number of company paid lunches. The company has a monthly all-hands meetings. I really like these as you get to see how the company is doing, and the financial trajectory for the rest of the year. The department will also pay for one tech conference a year. The team went to VSLive360. I know of past co-workers that went to Google I/O and other interesting conferences. There's a lot of activities through the year. You'll get to meet a lot of people that work in other departments.
There's a lot of dedicated people working here. Passion is evident with anybody you talk with.Cons
Their culture is fairly intense. There's a lot of pressure of getting things right. Slackers are readily apparent and won't survive here. As in other companies, you have departments that are either profit centers or cost centers. My department is a cost center. The company has been trying to compensate their technical people with large salaries, but that does not make up for a messy environment. There have been several mass defection and firings in the last 3 years.Advice to ManagementAdvice
You are not a software company. Get an off-the shelf system that comes close to your must have features, and customize the rest. The core competencies of the company (hedgehog principle) are well run. The technology side is a mess and has accumulated a large amount of technical debt. I fear the day this monsters rears its ugly head.RecommendsNeutral OutlookApproves of CEO
Getting an Interview
Getting an Interview
- Application Details
I applied through an employee referral - interviewed at KLAS Enterprises.Interview Details
The process is long and very detailed. I first submitted my resume with an employee that I knew at KLAS and after that I had a phone interview with the HR director followed by a follow up phone interview with another manager at the company. Then I had to complete a Rembrandt test online and finally I had a face to face interview at their offices. Total process took well over a month.Interview Questions
