I have been working at KPMG full-time (More than 5 years)
Many opportunities for career advancements. Large company which can allow you to move internationally or to different industries. Work with great colleagues who will become your close friends.
Longer than average hours. Work is demanding and the pressure is high at times. The pay is lower than what you would get if you leave the firm. On the other hand, you can use the firm as a platform and always be able to find a better paying 9-5 job if that's for you.
Advice to Management
The US firm should look to the European KPMG's operation and take some simple steps which would greatly improve the quality of work/life for employees (e.g. showers in the office, subsidized gym, free mobile phone for all employees, etc.)

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at KPMG (San Francisco, CA).
Approached by a recruiter by email, then had a phone interview with the recruiter, then another phone interview with another recruiter at the local office. After that scheduled for an office visit. During the office visit, I interviewed with a partner and a recruiter and had lunch with 2 other associates. All of them are very friendly and approachable. Did not get any feedback after.
