Kool Smiles – Why Work For Us?

Behind the smiles of our dentists is a company with a purpose.

We started Kool Smiles in Decatur, Georgia, in 2002, because we saw a huge need for quality dental care in underserved communities. In our first year, we treated more than 10,000 children and young adults. For many of our patients, it was their first experience at a dentist. We made a profound impact on their lives and were inspired to broaden our service area. Today, we offer employment for dentists and staff, and provide comprehensive general dentistry services, including preventative care, diagnostic imaging, and restorative care to children and adults in 16 states.

We invite you to consider a dentistry career with us as we expand the Kool Smiles network of dental offices throughout the nation. You'll be part of an organization that is making a difference by putting healthy smiles on
the faces of people in need.

Professional and personal growth for staff

Kool Smiles wants every person we employ to be personally fulfilled and professionally satisfied. We offer each Kool Smiles team member the opportunity to grow in his or her career. We promote from within whenever possible, so working hard and living our values every day benefits not only the greater good, but can mean rewards for you, too.

Quality Dental Care is our Mission

At Kool Smiles, we believe that every family in America deserves quality dental care. If you believe the same thing, we have dentist jobs available for you, as we strive to continually open new dental offices in underserved communities.

As part of the Kool Smiles team, you'll have a dentistry career that allows you to make a difference in the lives of children and adults who might not otherwise have access to quality dental care.

Our Mission:

Improving lives by providing high quality dental care in a fun, compassionate environment.

Our Values:

Quality: We constantly push ourselves to exceed our own high standards in quality—across dentistry, operations, working with one another and the communities we serve. The quality of care we deliver is proven out not only in our dental procedures, but also in the way we treat one another, our patients, and their families.

Integrity: We do the right thing, which shows up in the dental care we provide and in how we treat one another. We diagnose accurately, provide correct and necessary care, and do it with care and concern for our patients. We are respectful, open and honest with each other and with our patients and their families, and we treat company resources as if they were our own. When we consistently use our integrity, we build trust for one another.

Compassion: We care deeply—for our patients and their families, the communities we serve, and one another. It is through compassion that we are able to understand and identify with one another, leading to a more rewarding atmosphere for everyone.

Diversity: We embrace and support the diversity of our patients and their families, the communities we serve, and one another. Diversity can be expressed in things like differing cultural and ethnic backgrounds, points of view, personal strengths, and work styles.

Teamwork: Working together, we each contribute a critically important piece to achieving the Kool Smiles mission. We work as a team with one another, and with our patients, their families, and the communities we serve. When we support one another, we are able to achieve a high level of performance, which allows Kool Smiles to flourish and realize the mission and dream.

Fun: To deliver smiles and happiness to our patients, their families, the communities we serve, and one another, we create and nurture an engaging, fun, and friendly environment. We know that a positive and supportive workplace creates the conditions for high performance and excellence.

A culture of professionalism and fun

At Kool Smiles, we offer an atmosphere unlike any you've ever seen in other dentist jobs. Because we work with children, fun is an integral part of employment for dentists and staff. We are looking for team members who can think of creative ways to keep patients happy and parents smiling. How are your impromptu puppet-show, sing-along, and storytelling skills? How do you feel about dressing up for Halloween or decorating the office for Valentine's day? If you think it's important to have fun at work, all while delivering the quality healthcare every child needs, you may be a perfect fit for a dentistry career at Kool Smiles.

Our culture of creativity, fun, and service extends beyond our doors. We encourage our Kool Smiles offices to get involved in their communities and they have accepted the challenge in many ways.

  • We partner with daycare centers and community groups to provide oral health screenings and supplies.
  • We work with state agencies and dental associations to try to lower the barriers to good dental care for all people.
  • We work with schools in our communities to help ensure children are getting the quality care they need and deserve by offering free oral health information and free dental screenings
  • Our employees help local organizations through community initiatives such as Toys for Tots toy drives, stuffing backpacks for back-to-school programs, and helping at local food banks.

Our mission-driven, fun culture creates a unified, family-like atmosphere where you can grow your staff or dentist career. We strive everyday to improve not only the oral health and self-esteem in all of our patients from all walks of life, but to be sure they have fun while we're doing it. Our patients' healthy smiles give our employees a lot to smile about, because when they're happy and healthy, we know we've succeeded in our mission.

A dentistry career that makes a difference

More than just providing quality healthcare at a place you'd be proud to work, we strive to make a difference in the lives of children and families. Many career paths make you choose between earning a great living and doing something greater. A dentistry career at Kool Smiles allows you to do both alongside a group of hard-working, fun-loving people who share a passion for working with a purpose.

Make a change for the better. Get on the path to a dental career with Kool Smiles today.

Start Your Career Right

Kool Smiles is the ideal place for a new dentist to start a meaningful career. We provide foundational training that meet American Dental Association and American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry guidelines from our experienced clinical leaders and on-going continuing education. All new dentists work in an office with other experienced dentists so they are welcomed to the Kool Smiles family with constant support and encouragement from their colleagues. In addition, our clinical quality program provides all dentists with regular feedback from respected experts.

Don't choose between earning a great living and doing something greater—you'll find both at Kool Smiles.

Many general dentists are not comfortable working with younger children and as a result are unable to really provide general dentistry services to an entire family. At Kool Smiles, you will learn best practices, both behavioral and clinical, for working with children of all ages. These skills will differentiate you throughout your entire career from the majority of your fellow dentists. In addition, our dedication to providing modern technology like digital x-rays and electronic dental records means our new dentists work with cutting edge equipment.

"I really like being in the office with the older doctors and having them support me when I was fresh out of school was amazing."
—Dr. Eric

    Pros

Outstanding organization with a purpose and mission to do the right thing for patients and employees. This organization is focused on patient care and driven by the doctors. There is a real sense of family and the company believes in maintaining a work/life balance. Like any large, multi-office organizations, there are always exceptions, but what a refreshing change to work with people who want to take care of children and their parents, provide outstanding care and have fun while doing it!

    Cons

Rapid growth may have caused some bumps in the road, but the desire and drive is there to make things right.

    Bilingual Patient Coordinator Interview

Anonymous Employee  in  Falls Church, VA
Anonymous Employee in Falls Church, VA
    Application Details

I applied online. The process took 5 days - interviewed at Kool Smiles in June 2014.

    Interview Details

I applied online and a recruiter contacted me within a week to schedule an interview. I interviewed with the recruiter and the clinic manager. The questions were pretty basic, "Tell me about yourself." "Where do you see yourself in 1 year? 5 years?" "What do you know about Kool Smiles?" They asked what I wanted as compensation, then informed me that the pay was $12 an hour, and even though I was clear that that would be a pay cut for me, I was still asked to sit in the front desk area to observe for about an hour, where the job was explained to me in greater detail by one of the other patient coordinators.
