I worked at Latin American Community Center full-timeDoesn't RecommendNeutral OutlookDoesn't RecommendNeutral Outlook
The Latin American Community Center (LACC) mainly has an outstanding staff who is struly dedicated to helping the community. Their long hours and often lack of praise or value form the upper management shows how committed they are. The organization is also embedded with tradition and people know to go to the LACC for help.
The organization is led by a dictator type Executive Director who believes the only way to lead is through fear and to constantly belittle her staff. The ED does not acknowledge great work and has often times made seasoned, great employees, march out of meetings crying. She has humiliated staff in front of the entire agency and makes no apologies. Outside of the LACC, she is not very respected. Other organziations deal with her and the LACC because it's the only show in town (only organization that helps Latinos). Other directors lack the knowledge, drive and/or professionalism to do their jobs correctly.
Advice to Management
Recognize the teams you have and know that they are there because they truly believe in the mission.
