I worked at Legal and General Investment Management full-time (More than a year)
One of the top asset manager globally - top name competiting with Blackrock and the likes. Access to global exposure. High HR entry barriers, therefore working with the very best in the industry. Exceptional investment performance.
Slightly too corporate. Lack of transparency (you never know what the management has up their sleeves or what they think of you - therefore creating a slightly awkward atmosphere). Culture is overly British (lack of honesty and transparency between colleagues - creating again an awkward environment to work in). Lack of career progression. Lack of thought leadership in the industry (e.g. despite dwarfing M&G and the likes in terms of prestige and investment knowledge, these still seem more present on the innovation stage - LGIM you have a great voice, use it!!!)
Advice to Management
Now that you have secured the top spot in the UK and Europe, focus on your international expansion. Hire more internationally and strengthen your values. Take on the thought leadership stage and start investing in marketing and communication! (I see the competitors everywhere but I never see LGIM).

Getting an Interview
- No OfferPositive ExperienceDifficult Interview
I applied online. I interviewed at Legal and General Investment Management in January 2015.
I had to submit just a CV. There were 160 applicants. 16 were invited to telephone interview. A few (myself included) were invited straight to interview. Out of the 160, 80 were selected for online tests and the top scorers were then invited to interview. The telephone interview was around 30 minutes and was quite informal, though the subject matter was tricky. I had to answer lots of questions about pensions, which was tricky. The last five minutes were more motivational questions, i.e. why did you pick those specific A-Levels? I did not progress into the final 8 unfortunately, but I got really useful feedback.
