I worked at Leprino Foods full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Wonderful company to work for. Great profit sharing plan. Growing at a steady and controlled speed. Good leadership at the top.

    Cons

Seems to be a communication and vision gap between upper management and middle managers. In some department's, the people in managerial roles are only there because of their tenure with the company. They have no managerial skills and should not be allowed to continue in their roles as they are driving out good workers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Mr. Leprino said it right at the annual meeting. We cannot continue to do things like we have done them for the last 40 years if we intend to continue to grow. Review the managers yourself, spend time with lower level staff members and listen to their opinions. A lot of good ideas are being stifled by bad managers. A lot of great talent is walking out because of inept people in a position of authority.

    Interview Details

I applied while still finishing up college, but was able to interview. This process took around 3 months. It was long, but it worked out well. They were very accommodating. I was living across the country during the interview process, so they let me interview via Skype after the first few phone interviews.

Don't try to butter up Leprino Foods -- it's into mozzarella with a capital "M." The company is a worldwide leader in mozzarella-making. It sells its soft cream-colored cheese to pizza purveyors large and small, including powerhouse pizza companies, including Domino's, Papa John's, and Pizza Hut, as well as to food manufacturers. In addition to mozzarella, the company makes string cheeses and reduced-fat cheddar and Monterey Jack. Besides cheese, Leprino operates a dairy powders segment through which it provides whey protein concentrate, lactose, and functional proteins... More
