I have been working at Long Beach USD part-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

I have had a very good experience with this company. When there was a death in my family the staff stepped in and cared for my needs. The school's office personel, teachers and aides and others were very concerned about my health and economic status.I was given every consideration. I will never forget their kindness.

    Cons

I work less than 20 hrs. a week-wish it could be different...

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I believe more workshops should be available for athose who need the training and classes. Not everyone can afford to pay tition at a university. I think that does exist or it did at one time.

    Application Details

I applied through an employee referral. The process took a dayinterviewed at Long Beach USD in September 2010.

    Interview Details

I was registered already as a College Student Aide for the Long Beach USD, which consists of presenting a TB test and x-rays. Then when you're approved, you're given a list of job sites to apply or in some rare cases, job sites contact you. On my first job site, I got an interview with a supervisor who was more interested in my availability. I got the job on the spot. When my program lost funding, I lost that job site and after a few months, a job site contacted me. I got a group interview instead (teachers and students from a special education program). Everyone was nice and I answered all their questions. They told me I'll probably have to wait a week for the next response, but a few hours later, I got a call and said I was hired. If you fit the college aide requirements, and you have the availability, then you're a shoe in.
