Former Employee - Intern In A Student Affairs Office in Los Angeles, CA

I worked at Loyola Marymount University as an intern (more than 3 years)

Apart from it being a beautiful campus, it is a mid-size university where you can get to know your staff but also meet a multitude of other employees from different offices. Well-connected, diverse student population, and in a great location.

Bureaucratic-like procedures make it hard to get things done sometimes, but this is expected. I was only an intern, a work study student to be exact, so I cannot speak to the promotional opportunities as I did not seek further employment here. From office directors I knew however, it appeared that once you reach the title of a director in a student affairs office, there is not much more room for advancement.
