I have been working at Lyons Consulting Group full-time (more than an year)Pros
Lyons is easily the most professional environment I've encountered in my working life so far. Everyone I've worked with here is thoroughly positive, respectful, and enthusiastic; and the company policies are forward-looking and family friendly, with great flexibility regarding things like telecommuting and vacation. Most refreshing (for this veteran of the software industry) is the genuine collaboration - when the going gets tough, people are always ready to lend one another their time and expertise, and though there are many talented technologists, there are no 'big egos.'Cons
Like any growing business in this industry, we have a lot of work to do here! There are times when overtime is expected to meet client obligations, but I've always felt the management goes out of its way to recognize and appreciate extra effort.RecommendsPositive OutlookApproves of CEO

I applied online. The process took 4 days – interviewed at Lyons Consulting Group.Interview Details
Contacted my HR for phone interview. HR set up phone interview directly with the hiring manager via email.
Phone interview was very basic and easy questions, however from the beginning the hiring manager acted as if my background really was not a good fit for the role. I was left wondering after the call why they even bothered contacting me if my background was not a good fit.
I declined to move forward almost immediately after the call - which I never do but it just seemed appropriate. I have a feeling the hiring manager was not keen on moving me forward either.
I would have appreciated that they had either not wasted my time or if the hiring manager acted like he was more engaged in the call. If my background was not appropriate then he should have declined to interview me. He also conveyed no real enthusiasm for the talking to someone about the company - which was strange because it seems that I was one of the first people he had a call with regarding this role. Finally I was put on hold in the middle of the call which unless it is a critical emergency is just bad form for an interviewer.
Some red flags for me were comments that lead me to believe they tend to run their consultants very hot in terms of allocations to projects, and the answer to the questions I asked about the amount of travel involved were disorganized enough to make me believe that they either did not know how much travel to expect or that it often varied so much that he could not or did not want to provide a real answer. Also I have double digit experience in project management and am certified in different methodologies. The interviewer took time to explain "modified agile" to me as if it was something Lyons invented - and I think every consulting firm I've ever spoken with has something they offer in terms of "modified agile". This just told me the interviewer did not know his audience.
I am sure this is a great company for some - just not for me.Interview Questions
