What is so different about MECLABS?
You’ll be hard pressed to find Bunsen burners, test tubes, beakers or crucibles at MECLABS. But you may spy a lab coat or two during our Halloween party.
We’re not your typical lab; in fact, we’re far more than that. We’re a research institute. We’ve made marketing a science and the world’s top brands count on us for our expertise. We conduct in-depth online experiments. We analyze what drives people to say “yes:” from “Yes, I want to open this email” to “Yes, I want to click the button” to “Yes, I want to sign up” to “Yes, I want to buy.” We test to see if our hypotheses are correct and we apply a rigorous scientific methodology to ensure tests are valid.
We use that knowledge to help global companies, Fortune 50 organizations and emerging businesses attain the very highest return from their sales and marketing investment. More than 225,000 marketers worldwide look to us to teach them to do the same.
Our goal is to learn from everything we do and use that to produce better outcomes for all marketers.
The most important requirements for you to work here are that you love to learn and you simply can’t know enough. That’s why we hire people with all levels of experience - from recent college grads to seasoned professionals. Their degrees range from associate to post-doctorate and run the gamut from art history to engineering to textiles to English and yes, marketing. It’s why we carefully consider every single resume; there’s no automated elimination of candidates. When you send us your application, we absolutely guarantee a human resources professional will give it thoughtful consideration.
You see, we have learned that we will never know where, when or how our next star will appear.
At MECLABS, you will get opportunities you can find nowhere else. You and your work will be placed front and center before world’s most important brands.
If you have a burning desire to learn and grow, and are driven to take the action to make that happen, you can be placed on a rapidly advancing career track at MECLABS because we’re growing fast. It’s common for people to achieve management positions in as little as a few months if they demonstrate ability, talent and drive.
Why would I want to join the MECLABS Team?
We work hard, we play hard, and, most importantly, we’re always learning and we have fun doing it. We’re not know-it-alls, just the opposite. We never think we can know enough and continuously strive for better understanding. In a world that’s constantly changing, we think that’s the smartest move anyone can make personally and professionally.
When you work here you’ll have endless opportunities to gain knowledge that will make you better at what you do. You’re going to get an education you’ll find nowhere else. You’ll learn on the job, during quarterly lectures by professors from Ivy League universities, at weekly clinics led by industry experts, through daily sessions where team members get together and discuss projects, by reading blogs, attending summits and webinars – again, the opportunities are endless.
Best of all, we’re more than coworkers; we’re friends who are like family. We know how to laugh and unwind during monthly birthday celebrations, informal after-work get togethers, impromptu games of ping pong, and much more. From refreshing outdoor gardens to whimsical mid-century modern orange chairs, our work environment provides the space to relax and have fun.
Some of our team members show up to work in bowties others in flip-flops and t-shirts. And that’s just fine with us. We just want to give you the freedom to be yourself so you can fully focus on supporting our team and our clients. We may have a casual workplace, but every one of us is committed to giving those we serve our very best, whether we’re doing that in a blue suit or blue jeans.
Where do I fit?
MECLABS is made up of three groups:
Build It provides services to clients. This includes everything from internal teams to emerging businesses to global Fortune 50 companies. Build It provides services like design, development and research to help develop and optimize every aspect of the online sales process including websites and content.
Most career paths within Build It begin with the role of a research analyst. Analysts have degrees in everything from art history to food science to aviation – what they have in common is the ability to think critically, learn, explore, and question. Research analysts have moved on to become research managers, senior research managers, and optimization directors in as little as three years.
This team also often has openings for data analysts, graphic designers, and web and application developers because of the organization’s fast growth. Of course, that fast growth means excellent potential for career growth.
Market It attracts MECLABS clients and followers. It has two divisions:
Marketing which includes company branding, events, publication design, campaigns and websites.
Content which includes most of the written and published articles, posts and case studies that fill the MarketingSherpa and MarketingExperiments blogs and websites. They are also responsible for videos, training and printed materials.
If your background includes journalism, communications, marketing, public relations or video, this division offers exceptional opportunities. Typical positions include copy editing, content writing, and video production. Again, because the company is growing quickly, there is tremendous potential for career growth.
Support It supports MECLABS day-to-day operations. It includes sales, legal, account, technology, human resources and property management. If you’re an accounting, administrative, human resources, IT or sales professional, this group could be a good fit.
No matter which group you join, rest assured that there are opportunities to move within the organization and enhance your personal brand. We are always seeking people who can effectively put themselves and their ideas out there whether that’s in a blog, video or speaking engagement.
"If I saw a banner at a career fair that said, 'You can wear shorts, flip flips, t-shirts and a hat to our office everyday' it would have been the first booth I visited."

So, what am I getting myself into if I decide to click on “Apply Now”? Who would I be meeting with? How long is the process? Will I need to know quantum physics? We respect your time and take your investment of it to apply at MECLABS very seriously. We want to make sure working here is a great fit both you and MECLABS.
We invest as much as 21 hours in each hire including reviewing resumes, skills tests, and preparing and conducting interviews. Be prepared to talk about your past experiences: professional, academic or personal, as well as successes and lessons learned.

I have been working at MECLABS full-time (more than 5 years)Pros
Great learning opportunities. You'll almost immediately start working and having direct impact on the marketing initiatives of Fortune 50 companies and small businesses alike. Very young, casual, intellectual atmosphere. Lots of interesting conversations to be had on the floor.Cons
Not a job to consider for the long term. Only so much advancement available. Leadership of company openly states that you should be focused on working for intrinsic value rather than monetary incentive. Think of this gig as a really well paid internship.Advice to ManagementAdvice

Lengthy and very detailed, but each interview was different and you could tell was leading to something. There were multiple face-to-face interviews, multiple phone interviews, a skills assessment, and a personality review. All were fairly lengthy, but not too difficult to complete.Interview Questions
