In the 2014 Corporate Equality Index issued by the Human Rights Campaign, MSLGROUP’s operations in the U.S. scored a perfect 100 points and earned the official distinction of being one of the “Best Places to Work for LGBT Equality.” No other large PR agency was ranked at all, although several holding companies were ranked. According to the Human Rights Campaign, over the past 12 years, the Corporate Equality Index has become the gold standard for corporate policies and practices related to LGBT employees and their families.
MSLGROUP achieved its perfect score by fully meeting all five of the organization’s criteria, including equal employment opportunity policies that cover both sexual orientation and gender identification, employment benefits that include equivalent spousal and partner benefits as well as “soft” benefits at parity, organizational LGBT competency, public commitment and responsible citizenship.
Several other Publicis agencies appeared alongside MSLGROUP on the list of 304 companies in the U.S. with perfect scores, including Digitas, Leo Burnett, Publicis Healthcare Communications, Publicis, Inc., Razorfish, Starcom MediaVest Group and ZenithOptimedia.

Generation Activation is our Gen Y leadership iniative.
Generation Activation is our internal program intended to empower the next generation of emerging leaders who embody our DNA and personify our boundless and entrepreneurial spirit. The GA Program covers three major programs:
BE:Cause: Offices issue a revers RFP, asking local, non-profit organizations to apply for a grant which is fulfilled by pro bono communications work delivered by the Gen Act team.
Community Connected: Identifies and leads agency volunteerism participation.
Trend Y: Showcases the trend-identifying talents of junior staff members to position them as "on-the-ground" experts in communication.
Our social & digital practice performs at the global level.
MSLGROUP has one of the most global social and digital practices of any large agency with representatives across more than 22 countries. We can boast some of the top talent in the social sphere. In the last year, two executives have been cited as among the 25 most influential advertising executives on Twitter.
We're focused on social and digital innovation.
In 2013, the MSLGROUP social digital practice introduced our IRM IMpact tool.
SXSWi excites us.
Our CEO Olivier Fleurot discussed Millennials in a Featured Session with Mashable CEO Pete Cashmore and Cosmoplitan Editor-in-Chief Joanna Coles. The session trended on Twitter as the panelists shared their views on Millennials within the workplace and discussed how Gen Y is changing the world of business.
Many members of our global Social/Digital team met before SXSW for a Global Digital Summit:

We're passionate about thought leadership and industry engagement.
We take our thought leadership and industry engagement seriously. This past year, from the World Economic Forum discussion with PRWeek and Arianna Huffington to our participation in Cannes to our global Wired Women study, we’ve demonstrated a strong presence within the industry. We launched The Social Wisdom of Wired Women at the Holmes Global PR Summit with a panel discussion involving Randi Zuckerberg, Stephanie Agresta and Stacy Martinet of Mashable. We also developed an eBook on Native Advertising. In the past year, we hosted Brian Solis in our offices during Social Media Week, Porter Gale and Ekaterina Walter for events, and we achieved the second largest share of voice in our industry at SXSWi.
When it comes to industry engagement, we were proud sponsors of the PRWeek Awards, the SABRE Awards, the PRWeek Conference, the Holmes Global Summit, the Silver Anvils, the Critical Issues Forum, ExL Pharma Content Marketing event, the Cause Marketing Forum, and the PRSA Connect 13 event.
In partnership with the PRSA, we developed the PRSA ethics app under the direction of Mark McClennan, who was also elected to the PRSA's Board of Directors.
And, at the Holmes Global Summit in Miami this fall, our corporate practice was named the best corporate consultancy in the world. This is an enormously important credential, of which we can be very proud.

I have been working at MSLGROUP full-time (more than 3 years)Pros
The people are very collaborative and super fun. I can't think of one person I wouldn't want on my team.
The clients are great. They genuinely value and respect the agency teams.
Lots of new business. Big brand names.
Great new hires in the last year. We finally have good leadership on the digital team. Someone who jumps in and does the work.
Resources as a global firm are ok and we have a strong consumer leader (Also the deputy for the office) who helps us find what we need.
We're moving into new office space!!!
Finally feels like the agency or at least the Chicago office is moving forward.Cons
Workloads seem unbalanced across the middle levels.
Not enough in-house resources. We get what we need but sometimes not fast enough and would be nice to have easier access.
The MD is MIA. He seems half engaged. He's always out. Not sure what he does. It's kind of a joke in the office. He literally does nothing at least from what we can see. And his door is shut when he is in.
Not moving to the new space fast enough.
Training programs need work. When scheduled they're super long. Makes it hard to get work done.Advice to ManagementAdvice
Strong rating because of the possibilities ahead. Something needs to be fixed at the top before it makes others leave.Approves of CEO
Getting an Interview
Getting an Interview
- Application Details
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 5 days – interviewed at MSLGROUP.Interview Details
The recruiter reached out to me on Linkedin about an internship position in my area. I was happy to send over a resume. She then invited me to a phone interview. I can't remember the exact questions, but she basically wanted to know about my experience with PR writing. media relations, and digital communications. The interview went well, or so I thought. I followed up with her and she then invited me to take a writing test, but didn't provide clear instructions. I wasn't sure if it was timed or if she was letting me know approx. how much time it would take. I was also confused because it was an editing test of a press release I had already seen online when I originally researched the organization. They purposely put grammar errors throughout the version she sent for me to correct. The other test was to write a pitch about the Jonas Brothers. I completed both tests and sent them over. ...
I never heard from her. I never got a confirmation that she received them, or a reply to my THREE followup emails or anything. It was so unprofessional. Meanwhile, I saw her constantly posting open positions for her organization on Linkedin. I was very disappointed.Interview Questions
