Good many people to work with. They make to feel you are family from the very first day on the job

I have been working at Mapei full-time (more than 8 years)

Mapei believes in training to improve yourself though both onsite and off. Taking classes in computers, customer relations, dealing with people, new product seminars... etc. Most managers don't try to micro-manage. They are very trusting as long long as things get done on time.

Don't always see the hard work and effort you put into doing your job. Long hours, traveling, working on weekends, being away from home 3-4 days a week. I am salaried so no over time.
Promote people who have little or no prior knowledge of what their new job entails.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Become more aware of how your job skills effects others you work with. Just because you have a title doesn't make you any smarter than others.

Knew about this company though my trade. Decided to followup with the contact person I knew. Sent my resume to corp HQ in Florida . They called me about two weeks later asked me to meet the sales director at one of our plants. He interviewed me and recommended to the manger in change to make arrangements for me to fly to Florida for a more in depth interview. Took over two weeks before knowing the outcome. Once they decide to hire me they sent me a letter of acceptance to read and sign. After that I spent two weeks at the HQ in Florida being briefed and basic training

The good thing about being Mapei is that you've got a direct hand in preventing the rug from being pulled out from under you. The Italian specialty chemicals company manufactures adhesives and sealants for floor installations. Mapei operates globally and achieves more than half of its sales from outside of its home country. The Squinzi family founded the company in 1937 and still controls Mapei. The company's name is an acronym of a former name -- Materiali Ausilieri Per l'Edilizia e l'Industria (or Auxiliary Materials for Building and Industry).
