I have been working at Marshfield Clinic full-time (more than 3 years)

Dedication to excellence in patient care, research and education, benefits are the best I've ever seen, good people to work with, continuing education supported

Leadership is shared among all physicians so changes are slow as seems to be the case in many large corporations.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Flatten the organizational structure and empower employees to be more accountable for improvements and innovation so change can occur more quickly, foster employee growth and career development

    Application Details

I applied online – interviewed at Marshfield Clinic.

    Interview Details

I had one interview and was offered the postion within a few days of the interview. Interviewed with 4 people but 2 of them asked most of the questions. There were lots of situational questions, "Tell us about a time when..." They described the IT organization at a high level. The description indicated that the IT department was in a state of re-org, which proved to be accurate when I started working there. Be prepared to ask questions about the type of work you will be doing and which projects you will be assigned. They have two groups of PMs. One group works on clincial projects. The other works on building projects and IT projects with networks and servers.

    Interview Questions
    • What would we be missing if we did not hire you? What would we have to put up with if we did hire you? They did ask PM process questions so be prepared to talk about the triple constraint and critical path.   Answer Question
    Negotiation Details
I requested a few thousand more than they offered and they gave me about 50% of my request. Recommendation: Be certain to negotiate for more salary.
