My experience at Mavens has been surreal; 3 months in it is hard to believe that I get to work at a flourishing company with an amazing culture, amongst incredibly bright and hard-working people, pursuing a career I’m passionate about - no catch!

One of the first things that becomes evident is that Mavens hand-picks its employees with care and consideration. Everyone is smart, talented, diligent, self-driven, and brings something unique to the table. It is humbling, yet exalting to work with other Mavens.

As for culture, I think it’s a synergy of Mavens’ values, which everyone strives to/is naturally inclined to uphold. It is uplifting to see that employees really do come first and this in turn fosters the realization of other principles such as accountability, craftsmanship, and citizenship.

Honestly, none that I can identify at the moment. Like others have commented (and I wouldn't personally qualify this as a con), you are responsible for your own development and no one will be in charge of supervising your work or guiding you down a defined path. You are certainly not on your own but you need to be proactive about asking for help.

    Advice to Management

It is so refreshing to see management actively work towards and ask for feedback on improving the experience for both employees and customers, keep it up! I know demand is growing and we are looking to expand our team but don't compromise on what it takes to be a successful Maven!

I applied online. The process took 2 daysinterviewed at Mavens Consulting (Chicago, IL) in March 2015.

Phone interview and presentation. For anyone who is interviewing for a consultant position, you will be required to develop a custom solution built in Salesforce for a fictitious company. Even though Mavens said you can build it to the best of your ability, they want completely custom built functionality that will take at least 40 hours. I've never done consulting before and maybe that's there way of weeding out people without consulting experience, but they should give potential candidates more information on what they want built and also take into account a persons Salesforce experience.
