I have been working at Maverik full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Pay is competitive compared to similar jobs at Walmart, Target, etc. Tons of opportunity to advance. Many positions opened in store management and corporate positions are filled from within. A company that has seen a lot of growth and continues to build new stores. The new model stores are clean and cool. Recognition and acknowledgement is good. Culture is great! Consider them if you work in retail.

    Cons

It's retail and not for everyone. Must be a dependable and hard worker. Benefits are good, but always could be better. Could have better policies in place for transferring store to store.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Spend more time developing and mentoring employees. Don't wait for an employee to show interest. Always be on the lookout for talent in order to build a strong bench strength so attrition does not have an impact on service, sales, etc. Take the blinders off! Always see the big picture of how your decisions impact the business.

I walked in and spoke with the manager. She had me speak with the night ops manager. He toured me around the store covering responsibilities and questioning my work history. He seemed satisfied and offered me the job. I completed several training tests and a few days of work under supervision and was from then on left to my own devices.
