Surrounded by pretty smart, pretty cool people. The office is open and doesn't feel confined (no cubicles.) There's a fully stocked kitchen and fun things to do if, on the off chance, you run into a bit of free time. Joe's pretty cool. Employees and managers are very candid and are open to feedback. Good work is noted. You can start work any time in the morning, as long as you get your work done. Generally people enter at 9-10 and leave at 5-7. Sometimes there's an emergency that requires you to stay later or work on the weekend, but it's not terrible.
Some of the social stuff can be upsetting to witness. For example, lot of the people that work there (employees and managers) tend to talk negatively about people that aren't around. Some of it is in good spirit, but there's enough not-in-good-spirit talk to make you wonder if you're the target when you're not around. Some people even go out of their way to exclude others and then are overjoyed to have succeeded. These are generally the people you want to avoid anyways, as there are plenty of nice people that don't participate in these activities.
Advice to Management
Participating in the above cons generally makes your employees feel like they can't trust you. It also makes the workplace feel like high school or early college again, which is pretty sad. Try and maintain patience with employees that ask questions. A lot of the questions are actually necessary, as a slight misunderstanding can mess everything up.

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks – interviewed at MaxPoint (Austin, TX) in June 2015.
I was contacted twice by Max Point (email and LinkedIn). I was not really looking for a job but what I read about the company intrigued me. I decided to give it a shot. The first interview was a basic phone screen. At first, I was told I was going to be invited on-site if my experience matched however, that was not the case. There was a second phone interview, this time around a little more technical. Again I was told, shall my background match, I would be invited on-site but, once again, this was not true. I finally had an even more technical phone interview where I discussed at length my experience, skills, and knowledge. Of all the phone conversations, this one was the one I felt most confident. The interviewer went through most of my resume and the whole interview went as a technical conversation where I was able to answer and further elaborate about my experience; the conversation never felt stagnant or as if I had forgotten anything I have done in the field through college and at a professional level.
- There were no technical problems to be solved. The interviewers focused more on what my resume says and probing into details associated with what is written in it. I felt they were impressed when I answered their questions to certain topics on my own words and concrete examples that if I were to recite textbook definition of computer science and software terms. One thing I completely did not appreciate was their letter letting me know they would pursue other candidates as their statement was something they could have known by just going through my resume. I did not like that I had to make many accommodations during my vacation. Answer Question
