I have been working at Maxim Integrated full-time (More than 5 years)
Maxim is a company with good opprtunity to make a difference. It is still in the developing phase where systems and process still need maturing, but you have a good chance to work on something important and demonstrate your abilities if you take the initiative. Good HR department, and IT, who have made big improvements in the company.
Lean staffs especially in support functions. Too many approval levels.

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Maxim Integrated (San Jose, CA) in September 2015.
A junior engineer met me at the door and took me to the outdoor seating area of the cafeteria. I thought that was an odd place for an interview. He asked me a couple of general questions: was I working now, why did I want this job. The manager arrived. He asked me if I had used LabView and how I would develop LabView software to interface with instruments. I told him I had done a lot of that work and had over 17 year's experience with LabView, I described a few jobs where I did that type of work and also how quickly and reliably I was able to finish those jobs. While I was speaking the manager started fiddling with his cell phone. He then asked me about a temperature control project I worked on. I described it but I don't think he was listening because his questions concerned details I had already explained. Also he was reading texts on his phone. The jr eng. asked a long garbled question, speaking in a very low voice. I only heard a few words like "scope", "pcb", "analog". I told him I didn't understand him and to repeat the question. He seemed annoyed and didn't say anything more. Another engineer arrived and the manager and jr eng left. This engineer was more engaging and asked a lot of technical questions about my work, and how I approached problems. That was encouraging but this engineer was a new hire; possibly a temp. I believe the manager and jr eng. were both prejudiced against me because of my age. The jr engineer was suppose to explain to me what the job entailed but didn't. The manager didn't listen to my answers and just played with his cell phone. He had already made up his mind. This interview was a real disappointment. I like Maxim as a company and have used a lot of their products. From what I was told this job sounded right up my alley. It was exactly the kind of job I would have enjoyed and would have done very well. I seriously doubt they will find a better candidate.
