The environment is pretty laid back
Strong company morals, company is well-respected in the industry
    Transparency into company performance
    Easy opportunity for continuing education
    Solid retirement
    Strong executive management
Generally speaking, management is very easy to talk to, even executives
Not a public company, so firing people simply to make numbers doesn't happen here

Raises and bonuses are very rare/low for non-sales people or mgt, not even meeting cost of living usually. Need to get your desired salary upfront
Hard work is rarely rewarded any more than coasting
Advancement opportunities are lacking because of low turnover
Being able to see sales numbers is a double-edged sword when raises and bonuses are lower than they should be

    Advice to Management

For those not anywhere close to retirement age, all the talk about ESOP is not nearly as important as making ends meet today. Many would trade lowered ESOP stock prices for healthier bonuses and salary increases that outpace the cost of living. The company may be doing very well now, but the "little people" are struggling. This should not be the case in a truly "employee owned" company.
