Merion Matters – Why Work For Us?

In 1985, the makers of ADVANCE set out on a mission—to enhance the careers of healthcare professionals everywhere by publishing a series of free newsmagazines. It's safe to say we've expanded a bit since then, but the heart of what we do remains the same.

Today, being a trustworthy source of industry news and information is just the beginning. Now we're a producer of multimedia resources, a provider of education, a host of career events, an online store and so much more.

Millions of nursing, rehab and allied health professionals turn to ADVANCE for:

  • Websites filled with articles, interviews, videos and interactive features
  • Print and digital publications
  • Webinars, job fairs & virtual events
  • The latest career opportunities on our industry-leading job board
  • Continuing education in a variety of formats
  • Gear, gadgets and gifts in our healthcare shop
  • Customized promotional items for recruiting and team-building

What else can we offer?

The parent company of ADVANCE Healthcare Network, ADVANCE Custom Communications, ADVANCE Healthcare Shop and ADVANCE Custom Promotions, Merion Matters is a family owned business with a think big attitude and a good mix of both tenured and young professionals. Each department has an array of diverse personalities and experience levels, all working together and dedicated to helping us identify, meet and exceed our goals along the way.

We offer standard health and dental benefits, 2 weeks of vacation to start, paid holidays, sick time and a casual but professional dress code. Most departments also offer flexible work schedules for a better work-life balance and employees are generally encouraged to plan for and flex their time within a 40 hour work week to avoid burnout.

We are also very proud of our beautiful hand-built wooden work stations, bright and naturally lit office space, custom designed décor and original artwork displayed throughout the building.

Teamwork, communication and transparency are strongly encouraged across all departments and every person is expected to go above and beyond in their contributions toward their own team and company goals and objectives.

I have been working at Merion Matters full-time (More than a year)

The group of employees who work here are great. Most care, are willing to help and really want the product to succeed. The flex time benefit is really good and the job allows for work-life family balance. Best perk, is that if you have an idea to try something to improve a product or try a new product, they will try it sometimes. Customer service is a strong focus at the sales team level.

With so much competition out there you have to always be creative and bundle sales to make the response have enough value to client. You need to get past clients perceptions that we only offer one product type and get them to stretch beyond what they have always done. Sometimes, we don't try to change enough internally and if a first attempt at something does not work, the idea is abandoned rather than letting it have enough time to develop to grow over time into a profitable revenue stream. Employees feel that upper management does not push and invest in new products, improving exsisting products and new readers.

    Advice to Management

Need to work harder on continuing to drive subscribers to existing products and trying new things for an arc of time rather than one-offs. To invest in the the products and staff and to give them time to grow opportunities.
