I have been working at Microbac Laboratories, Inc. full-time (More than a year)
Nature of work is interesting (if you're into this type of work), networking, care about data quality & integrity
Do not follow through on incentives (odds of actually getting a bonus / raise / promotion are slim), Regulated overtime despite heavy workloads, lots of money at the top (private plane & pilot...), high-deductible HSA style benefits are costly, particularly for a family, focus on company expansion takes away from work quality, silly emails about "cost cutting measures" sent out to entire company with an "if you don't, no bonus" tacked onto the end. Generally depressing work environment...no one enjoyed being at their job.
Advice to Management
Look at your employee turn around rates. People will not stay in a position where they are not being treated well, especially when they have degrees that will allow them to go elsewhere. Yes, everyone is expendable...but that doesn't make your company look too great if everyone is always leaving. Spend some time at your recently acquired facilities and see how they truly operate - perhaps your corporate policies should not be applied universally, but rather on a facility-by-facility basis.
Getting an Interview
Getting an Interview
- No OfferNegative ExperienceEasy Interview
I applied online. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at Microbac Laboratories, Inc. (Worcester, MA) in May 2015.
A few weeks after applying, I was randomly called by the lab supervisor at a time I was unavailable. We scheduled a phone interview the next week, and he missed the scheduled call but immediately decided to instead bring me onsite Friday of the same week. Fairly easy interview, but what was really disappointing was the only followup I got was HR lying that they "will be closing this position (from further applications?) and will be reviewing candidates and interviewing on an on going basis (despite how I had at that point already interviewed a few weeks ago, which was in turn almost a month since the position was advertised? Yeah right...)." I'm fine with the standard automated HR rejection emails, but the automated emails blatantly lying to candidates is not okay. Overall, connected with the lab supervisor and an otherwise decent interview experience, but the company's HR department really needs to change their system of candidate rejection to an actual rejection email, rather than saying they're beginning to interview candidates, which is far from the same thing (and no, "other candidates" is NOT supposed to be a bad sign. You really naive enough to think any interviewer's gonna bank it all on one single candidate? Besides, I've had interviewers tell me they were interviewing other candidates who later on advanced me to the next stages).
