I have been working at Midwest Research Institute

    Pros

MRI is known in Kansas City as one of the best places to work at. The work/life balance couldn't be better. They really take care of their people. If you have the science background they're looking for then you will really be happy here. I loved working with really smart people that don't look down on anyone.

    Cons

Most jobs at MRI seem to require a strong science background and likely having an advanced degree unless you're talking HR or accounting. Some of the offices and labs have not been renovated since the 40's but I think they are slowly working to upgrade the building.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Can't think of much although I was only there for a short while.

    Application Details

I applied online. The process took 2+ monthsinterviewed at Midwest Research Institute.

    Interview Details

    HR representative was very professional.

I went through a lengthy interview process with multiple office visits only to find out they chose an internal candidate. Based on comments made on the last interview by the hiring manager, this may have been predetermined or at least an up hill battle for any outside candidate.

My advise to the company would be to only go outside of the company if there are no viable internal candidates. Make your decision on the internal candidates and then go outside - - particularly if the position is non-executive.

    Interview Questions
    • The interview questions were reasonable. There were no trick questions. Most were about previous experience and management skills. The people I spoke with were professional   Answer Question
