I worked at Milacron (More than a year)

    Pros

Good products, especially the Japanese Roboshot presses. Much experience and long term employees also to assist. Service team does a great job supporting sales team.

    Cons

Commission structure is bizarre. Need to eliminate draw structure of it and pay based on sales from day 1. Bloated middle management staff not really adding anything to the bottom line.

    Advice to Management

Get back to focusing on personal side of sales. Stop over analyzing numbers. Focus on core competency. You don't have to try and own the market for each discipline. Be great at a few things rather than average at all things.

    Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took a week. I interviewed at Milacron (Cincinnati, OH).

    Interview

Very immersive and friendly experience. Even educational (as any interview should be). Professional, growing, clean, and relatively quiet industrial work environment. The walk-through of the plant is a definite eye opening experience. You naturally gain a realization that management are real people that support (rather than "supervise"). The products, manufacturing process (German Based OEM), and possibilities (anything plastic) sells the company. Also, management clearly knows what they are looking for... hope this helps

    Interview Questions

    • Broad scope of basic questions relating to all aspects of liquid injection technologies. Mix of mechanical, hydraulic, electronic, and electrical.   1 Answer

Milacron people are passionate for plastics. Once a machine toolmaker, Milacron retooled in the '90s to focus on plastics processing technologies and industrial fluids. It leads five businesses. The largest, a plastics machinery unit, makes injection molding and extrusion processing equipment used to produce dashboards, decking, and other products. Other units include Uniloy (blow molding systems for consumer packaging), DME (parts such as mold bases for plastics machinery), Cimcool (coolants, lubricants, and cleaners for metal grinding, machining, and stamping), and ...
