I worked at Millennium Pharmaceuticals as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

    Employee events; compensation; work-life balance

    Cons

I was a contractor for 2 years and they would have kept me on as a contractor indefinitely had I not left. Aside from this possibly being illegal, it does not give the contractors incentive to stay. About 1/3 of the company is made up of contractors. While the contractors were always included in special events, the lack of job stability and manager bias against contractors was enough to make me leave.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Value your resources and give your contractors incentive to stay.

I applied online – interviewed at Millennium Pharmaceuticals in July 2014.

    Interview Details

Interviewed by 2 staff members and human resources. Human Resources ran the show rather than the people in the group who I would have been working for. Strange I thought.

Millennium Pharmaceuticals wants to be "the" drug company for the new millennium. The company, which operates as Millennium: The Takeda Oncology Company, is a subsidiary of Japan's Takeda Pharmaceutical. Its cancer drug Velcade is approved as a treatment for multiple myeloma (a blood cancer) and mantle cell lymphoma (or MCL, an aggressive form of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma). Millennium has more than a dozen other candidates in the pipeline, most of them cancer-related. Its oncology-focused sales force, in partnership with Johnson & Johnson, markets the drug, with Millennium... More
