Mind Candy – Why Work For Us?

Mind Candy’s vision is to create the greatest family entertainment company in the world for this new digital generation. Our flagship product is Moshi Monsters which has grown to over 80m registered users online and has also expanded successfully offline into best selling books, magazines, toys, trading cards, music albums and a movie. Creating magical entertainment on mobile and tablet is at the heart of what we do at Mind Candy and we’re now developing several groundbreaking new products for kids and their families.

Creative Director

Michael co-founded online retailer Firebox.com before his passion for games and puzzles led him to found Mind Candy. Aside from creating Moshi Monsters, Michael has founded networking events such as Silicon Drinkabout, Second Chance Tuesday, Ping Pong Fight Club and Berwickstock – a secret music festival.

Divinia, who serves as a director, has used her years of business experience to help grow Mind Candy from a small start-up, to a successful company. Divinia is also the founder and organiser of a networking group of 100+ COOs from the most influential start ups in the London tech scene.

Based in Shoreditch, Mind Candy is a major player in the rapidly expanding London tech scene. Our hero brand is Moshi Monsters, one of the world’s fastest-growing online games for kids, with 80 million sign-ups and counting. But the Moshi phenomenon is not confined to the wildly successful online game. We’re busy disrupting the world of music, video, toys, film, cartoons, books and much more. Moshi games have also invaded the mobile and tablet space with the launch of Moshi Monsters Village and Moshi Karts, but Moshi is just the starting point – we’ve got several new entertainment projects bubbling away that need smart, creative minds to spark them into life.

We’re always on the lookout for ambitious and creative people to join our team. But isn’t everyone? Potential Mind Candies need something extra. A quirky edge, a positive attitude and a driving passion to bring something unique to our party. It’s hard to define but you’ll know if you’ve got it. And so will we. Think you can measure up? Let’s talk!

Our highly acclaimed studio might look like a playground complete with treehouse and astroturf, but it’s designed to be a fun and inspiring place to work. Best of all it’s brimming with brilliant people.

Scaling Moshi Monsters to over 80 million users and numerous devices across the globe is no mean feat, so we’re constantly searching for outstanding tech talent. Exceptional people who can handle some of the best technology available today, from Scala, Akka, Thrift and Cassandra to Objective-C, AS3 and Unity. Everything we do runs in the cloud, so AWS expertise is key, too.

Our relentless urge to innovate means we’re always tinkering with new tools such as Node.js, Kafka, Storm and WebGL. But there’s more to Mind Candy than systems, software and even monsters. We’re working on several groundbreaking top-secret projects, so there will be plenty of opportunities to get your tech teeth into something truly game changing.

The Moshi Foundation

Mind Candy set up the Moshi Foundation in 2011 as a grant giving organisation supporting the advancement of education, relief of financial hardship, sickness and poor health in children and young people anywhere in the world. The independent charity is run by a team of trustees who review and assess all grant requests.

In addition to this we have a strong relationship with several other children’s charities and our staff regularly spread the love through corporate volunteering in charitable events.

    Interview Details

The hiring and interview process was very good. I felt I was interviewed by the right people and asked all the right questions. I was asked back from multiple interviews which I felt was fair. Once the process was completed they offered me the role and the salary I expected to be paid.

    Interview Questions
    • One of the most difficult questions I was asked was to do with a part of the business which I had not yet understood as I hadn't been a part of the company. It was more of a "what would you do if" question   Answer Question
