Health Care

MEAU healthcare includes Medical/Rx/Vision (as a package) and Dental. All locations offer Aetna PPO and VSP(vision) in addition to Aetna Dental. Some locations offer HMO plans. All Aetna plans have on-line resources that are available 24/7 such as Intellihealth, Aetna Navigator and DocFind (provider directories for medical, Rx and dental)

As an employee, you and your family have access to an EAP through Magellan Health, which covers mental health, substance abuse, and financial and legal information. 

Flexible Spending Accounts

MEAU offers both Health Care and Dependant Care spending accounts. These FSA’s allow you to lower your taxes and increase your spendable income as long as your expenses are qualified. 

Time Off

MEAU believes that time must be provided to employees annually for rest and relaxation. We also understand that employees need to attend to personal matters as well. For this reason, we offer: Vacation (10 days prorated for new hires based on hire date)

Sick/Personal (6 days for hourly employees, prorated for new hires based on hire date)

Financial Benefits

• 401(k) – Mitsubishi US Companies Retirement Plan:
  We offer a 2% Company Contribution upon eligibility whether you choose to participate in the plan or not. Employees are able to contribute up to 50% of your eligible earnings; we match up to 4% of your contribution (in addition to the company contribution). Employees are always 100% vested.
• Employee Life Insurance –$20,000 minimum coverage plus supplemental coverage up to 5x your pay.
• Dependant Life Insurance –Life insurance coverage on your dependants.
• Short-Term Disability- 55% minimum salary coverage, if elected, while unable to work for 7 or more days due to a non-work related injury or illness.
• Long-Term Disability – 50% minimum salary coverage while unable to work for more than 6 months.
• Travel Accident Insurance – as an employee, you are automatically insured for $250,000 while traveling on behalf of the company.
• Pay Continuation- a 100% salary continuation benefit for exempt employees. Minimum one year of service gives you 2 months of pay if you are unable to work due to a non-work related injury or illness.

SPOT Award - Super Performer of Today

The Super Performer of Today (SPOT) award program encourages a positive work environment. These awards provide a way for someone to say “Thank you for the positive things” you do. A SPOT award consists of a gold coin given in appreciation and are worth $5.00 and can be redeemed in the cafeteria towards the purchase of a meal of exchanges at the reception desk for a gift certificate to a local store or restaurant!

GEM Award - Going the Extra Mile

Going the Extra Mile (GEM) awards are to recognize and reward employee(s) who go above and beyond their normal job duties to achieve business goals consistent with the corporate philosophy.  Any employee may nominate another employee for this recognition.  There are four levels of GEM awards.  More information is available on MEAU website.

The Mitsubishi Electric America Foundation (MEAF) was established in 1991 with a $15 million endowment by the Mitsubishi Electric Corporation of Japan and the Mitsubishi Electric US group companies. The Foundation supports national grant programs and employee volunteer programs across the United States to make Changes for the Better for youth with disabilities.

Mission & Vision

Since 1991, MEAF has been dedicated to the mission of helping youth with disabilities maximize their potential and participation in society.  By 2016, MEAF will empower youth with disabilities to lead productive lives through increased employment.

Financial Information

Since its inception, MEAF and Mitsubishi Electric Employee Volunteers have invested $14 million and more than 40,000 volunteer hours in U.S. based nonprofit organizations.

The Foundation has provided $7.6 million in National Grants that promote the full inclusion of youth with disabilities in society. MEAF has also given nearly $3 million in Matching Grants and Starfish Matches, doubling the $3 million in charitable contributions of cash, products and volunteer time donated by Mitsubishi Electric US companies and their employees.

What is the VISION Committee?

The Volunteer Committee (named VISIONin 2000) was created in November 1991 in conjunction with the formation of the Mitsubishi Electric America Foundation (MEAF).  The foundation is jointly funded by the Mitsubishi Electric Corporation in Japan and the Mitsubishi Electric U.S. (MEUS) companies.  Its mission is to contribute to a better world for us all by helping young people with disabilities, through technology, to maximize their potential and participation in society.  MEAF provides some funding, training and support for the MEUS company volunteer committees.  The MEAU volunteer committee began as one member, a small budget and great intension, and has grown to be strong and inventive.

The committee was named VISIONin late 2000 and continues to follow the Foundation’s mission and ideals, helping young persons with disabilities.  The committee currently has about 12 members with a mission to promote philanthropic activities within the company and surrounding communities.

Activities Committee

What does the committee do?

The Activities Committee was formed in 1991 when our then president, Mr. Nakamura, determined that it would be a nice idea for the company to provide enjoyable activities to help relieve the stress of everyday work activities and to promote fellowship amongst the employees. In addition to the annual Company Picnic and Holiday Party, events are conducted both during and after workday hours. The after-hours events are generally open to the employee and one quest of the employee and the company. This committee is truly an “employee” committee. Without the participation of employees these events would not occur.

Past Events

• Cubs/Sox Games: Employees buy tickets from the company and the company provides comfortable bus transportation with food and refreshments on board.
• Oktoberfest: Managers cook food for the employees.  Burgers & Brats are served!
• Holiday Luncheon/Party: During the Holiday Season we provide a holiday luncheon for our employees and often a Holiday Party.  Holiday Parties are free for the employee and one guest.  The holiday luncheon is another meal served by Management that includes Turkey, Stuffing, etc.
• Sunset Boat Cruise: A beautiful way to spend an evening, cruising the shoreline of Lake Michigan on a chartered ship with dinner and refreshments and watching the sun set over the city of Chicago.
• Free Lunches: Throughout the year we sponsor free themed lunches for our employees.  Themed lunches in the past have included Superbowl, Cinco de Mayo and a Summer Celebration.
