At Moderna, we are pioneering the development of a new class of drugs made from messenger RNA (mRNA). Our mission is to deliver on the promise of transformative mRNA science to bring new medicines to patients. Our vision is to unlock the potential of this new field of science by establishing an ecosystem of teams and partners that will work together to develop the broadest possible array of drugs across diverse therapeutic areas and routes of administration, for serious diseases not treatable today.
Our novel drug platform, combined with the hard work of our team, has garnered strong support from financial investors and strategic agreements with industry leaders such as AstraZeneca, Alexion Pharmaceuticals and Merck, giving us the infrastructure, support and runway to continue to advance our growing pipeline of potential treatments. As a privately-held company with significant financial support, we are also able to invest in cutting-edge automation in drug discovery, manufacturing and production. Our decision to remain private, coupled with strong financial and industry support, creates limitless career opportunities for our employees to take ownership of new clinical development strategies and be part of transformative discoveries.
Moderna is unique among biotech companies in that we are engaged in developing treatments for a wide range of diseases – fostering an entrepreneurial culture that affords our employees the chance to work across a range of therapeutic areas and modalities, all under one roof. Our scientists and “drug hunters” are encouraged to think creatively about new applications for mRNA, and we have the infrastructure to incubate these new discoveries. Some become the basis for forming new venture companies solely focused on one disease area or application, giving our employees another opportunity to lead distinct efforts within the larger organization. These venture teams are part of our ongoing effort to allocate internal resources appropriately so that we have dedicated teams advancing new treatments, while the core team continues to innovate on our foundational mRNA TherapeuticsTM platform.
Because Moderna is a special company, we chose to establish our corporate headquarters in the world’s biotechnology hub of Kendall Square in Cambridge, Mass., with access to world-renowned scientists, research institutions and other leading biopharmaceutical companies. We have two office locations in Kendall – 320 Bent Street, our corporate headquarters and venture incubator space, and 200 Technology Square, which houses our state of the art GMP manufacturing space, R&D, and operations – and an office in Stockholm, Sweden.
Because of our unique mission and vision, working at Moderna provides an unprecedented opportunity to be at the forefront of a truly disruptive and exciting new field of science with the potential to transform medicine.

Our Mission and Vision
At Moderna, we are pioneering the development of a new class of drugs made of messenger RNA (mRNA). This novel drug platform builds on the discovery that modified mRNA can direct the body’s cellular machinery to produce nearly any protein of interest, from native proteins to antibodies and other entirely novel protein constructs that can have therapeutic activity inside and outside of cells.
We have a clear mission to propel the field of mRNA science forward and deliver new medicines to patients and a unique vision for how to achieve this mission.

I have been working at Moderna Therapeutics full-time
I've worked at Moderna for about two and a half years now. Moderna brings a challenging, fast paced, and exciting environment. Everyone that I've come in contact with here is genuinely friendly, and helpful. Every accomplishment that is made here is truly a team effort, and I can honestly say management does a great job of recognizing hard work and rewarding it. To watch the development of this technology has truly special. It's extraordinary and the potential for this is inconceivable.
Moderna currently has three sites, and a couple of times I've noticed communication between groups in different building could use some improvement. There have been instances where groups come together and realize that they have been working on a similar project and that they do have useful information they can share with each other. Moderna does have weekly R&D meetings to give each group a chance to show off their work, however it can be three or so months in between presentations.
Advice to Management
Keep improving the communication between all buildings.

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Moderna Therapeutics (Cambridge, MA).
I was contacted by a recruiter for a phone interview where they talked about the position and asked about my relevant experience. After that, I was invited for an on-site interview. The interview process was kind of chaotic as the position I had been told I would be interviewing for was not the correct position. I could have been more prepared for it, had I known the exact role and responsibilities. The on-site interview was made up of several meetings, a few of which had to be moved around because people were not around.
- Nothing difficult - just asking about past experience and why you want to work there and what you know about the company. Answer Question
