    Pros

Molbak's is a genuine family-owned small business. Company decisions are made on-site by managers who all employees know. Everyone can contribute and make a difference. Molbak's is known for the high quality of its products and customer service. It is a beautiful place to work.

    Cons

The seasonality of the business creates periods of stress. The retail schedule requires weekend and holiday work, which impacts employee family life. Working in old greenhouses, while having some charm, can be cold in the winter and hot in the summer.

    Advice to Management

Encourage more extensive dialogue and engagement with front line staff. Remember to verbally appreciate the hard work everyone puts in.

    Application

I applied online. The process took a weekinterviewed at Molbak's (Woodinville, WA) in October 2012.

    Interview

I replied to a craigslist ad. I was almost immediately emailed a response asking me to come in for an interview. The interview was fairly short, they just needed to make sure I was able to speak and walk at that point they were satisfied. No drug testing or criminal background checks are done here. After the interview I got a call back within a day or two and I was given a job offer.

    Interview Questions

    • Very easy questions, nothing difficult or unexpected at all.   Answer Question

    Negotiation

They said they usually ONLY bring on seasonal staff at minimum wage but "for me" they can do a little better. It really was a LITTLE maybe less than a dollar over min. wage. I took the offer because I needed the job.
