I worked at Monetary Authority of Singapore full-time (More than a year)

Extremely capable and intelligent colleagues make for a stimulating environment and challenging work. Strong emphasis on teamwork and a generally collegial environment. Brilliant Managing Director. There have also been recent moves to enhance the range of activities available to officers outside of work, from Kids at Work events to special interest groups and exercise classes.

Middle- to top-heavy - too many Deputy Directors with limited spans of control (i.e. few direct reports, and not necessarily in charge of their appraisals, welfare etc.) Where divisions are small, this means that the workload gets pushed downwards to an even smaller pool of associates and ADs. There is sometimes a lack of clarity / differentiation in the roles of Deputy Directors vs division heads (who may also be Deputy Directors), leading to excessive editing of work / tensions in the reporting line, and artificial limitations being set on the level of responsibility given to officers below DD level.

    Advice to Management

You do a great job of hiring talented people - try to flatten the reporting structure (though understandably this may now be difficult, given legacy issues) so that younger officers have more responsibility, visibility and autonomy. They are mostly very capable officers and paid well, so make full use of them :)

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Monetary Authority of Singapore.

    1. It was an intensive psychometric test that had 4 different sections. 2. 1 hr essay test on your own laptop. Question was about the euro dollar and the effects it had on the country
