I worked at Monrovia Unified School District part-time

    Pros

Most of the staff members are very kind and welcoming. Your experience depended very much on your relationship with the teacher you were working with. You had the opportunity for raises based on a step schedule, which was nice. We were given 20 hours a week, with the opportunity to cover each others' shifts.

    Cons

When I worked there, they did not hire aides as full time employees, so if you need that look elsewhere. The students could be difficult to work with at times but if you have a thick skin and a sense of humor they will grow to like you soon enough.

I applied online. The process took 5 daysinterviewed at Monrovia Unified School District in August 2013.

    Interview Details

The hiring and interview process is long. First the applicant has to make sure that they meet all district and NCLB (No Child Left Behind) qualifications: college units, Associates degree, and passin the Paraprofessional exam. Once they pass all the qualifications the candidate must meet with the special education hiring panel.
