I worked at Montclair School District as a contractor for more than 10 years

Montclair School District explored differential teaching methods to enhance learning. Provided workshops for staff prior to implementing new teaching method. This gave me the confidence and knowledge perform on the job and explor greater ideas to do better. The district also provided flexible work schedule.

Working in the school didn't allow growth for promotions or advancement in leadership roles. Perks such as bonuses were not fluent as in commercial sectors since school are non profit organizations and funded by federal and local government.

Language Arts Teacher, Middle School Interview

    Application Details

I applied online. The process took a day - interviewed at Montclair School District in July 2010.

    Interview Details

Principal & three teachers interviewed me. They gave ample information about the postion, and their school in general. They asked several questions to assess my strengths as a language arts teacher, including questions about content, methods, and classroom management. The panel members were all friendly, courteous, and professional. The school is rather "upside-down" at the moment, as they are relocating at the moment. I definitely think that I should have taken more initiative to "toot my own horn". The interview ended without my taking an opportunity to share highlights from my portfolio. It was over in about 25 minutes, and although I felt that I answered their questions well, I should have made more of an effort to tell them of my capabilities.
