Health care isn’t a 9-to-5 career. As a 24/7 employer, MultiCare offers day, evening, night and weekend shifts ranging from on-call to full-time.

INSTITUTE FOR LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT
MultiCare has been recognized as one of the best learning organizations in the world by the American Society for Training and Development. Our Institute for Learning and Development (ILD) offers many courses tailored to MultiCare employees.
Eligible full-time employees may receive up to $3,000 each year for approved courses. Eligible part-time employees working at least 16 hours per week may receive between $1,500 and $2,000 in reimbursement based on their FTE status.
ON-SITE CAREER DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST
Once a week, a career development specialist from WorkSource is available to coach employees on advancement opportunities and related training programs to help them achieve their career goals.

ADVANCED SURGICAL TECHNOLOGY
MultiCare is home to Washington’s most advanced surgical center. We've implemented the daVinci Surgical System, a system that combines the latest advances in robotics and computer technology. Only a select group of health care providers nationwide offer robotic surgery using the DaVinci system.
ELECTRONIC HEALTH RECORD
MultiCare was the first health care system in Washington to implement Electronic Health Record (EHR) technology.
The EPIC electronic health record system was introduced several years ago in outpatient settings. In June 2007, it was rolled out to our inpatient settings. Additional enhancements will create jobs for EPIC Analysts, Educators and SMEs from various clinical areas.
MultiCare’s impressive list of imaging equipment includes:
- Positron Emission Tomography (PET) CT scanners
- PACS (picture archive communication systems)
- Image-guided sterotactic radiosurgery
- Digital mammography
At MultiCare, we care for patients through every stage of life. The same is true for our employees. Our pay and benefits reflect the diverse needs of our employees—from new grads with school loans, to working parents, to "empty nesters" just a few years from retirement.
HOW PAY RATES ARE SET
MultiCare frequently monitors local, regional and national pay practices to ensure our pay remains competitive. Starting pay rates for new employees are based on relevant experience and, in some cases, education or certifications.
In most cases, pay is based on the average for similar jobs in our region. In some cases, our analysis includes a comparison of pay rates across the entire country.
In addition to competitive base pay and benefits, MultiCare offers a “Gainsharing” Program for employees and an Incentive Compensation Plan (ICP) for managers. Gainsharing provides cash awards to non-management employees when MultiCare achieves its targets for financial performance, quality and customer service.
When this program was introduced, it was the only one of its kind in Washington State and one of very few across the United States.
MultiCare’s comprehensive benefits guide includes medical, dental and life insurance.
Employees who work at least 24 hours per week receive full benefits, including health insurance coverage for themselves with minimal payroll deductions. Employees who work 16 to 23 hours per week receive pro-rated benefits, including health insurance coverage that is substantially subsidized by MultiCare.
Additional benefits include paid time off, retirement plans, wellness benefits, career development and an on-site daycare center. Part-time employees can also earn 15 percent more by waiving health insurance benefits and paid time off.

Smart, hardworking co-workers who are very friendly. I get great direction from my supervisor without being micromanaged. Management is always looking to the future of the industry. Excellent IT infrastructure and cutting edge technology. Patient care constantly reinforced as the priority and the nurses and providers embody this. The people here really do care. Top notch benefits. I really like the food at the cafeteria!
The hospitals are fantastic but some of the buildings for shared support services are older. Challenging environment right now with changes (but that could be applied to the entire healthcare and hospital industry).
Advice to Management
Some more town hall style meetings with employees would help everyone to feel that they are an important stakeholder.
