Mutual Mobile – Why Work For Us?

Mutual Mobile is an emerging tech agency that builds breakthrough products for a more connected world.

By finding the sweet spot between technologies, people, and brands, we unleash previously impossible value.

Breakthrough products delight people, push technological boundaries, and redefine markets. Building them is more than what we do — it’s why we live.

Here, R&D isn’t a department, it’s a way of life. We eat, sleep, and breathe emerging technology. We hack, tinker, explore, and experiment daily — and share our findings along the way.

We create close-knit, best-in-class teams of passionate people who actively collaborate with clients to gather cross-discipline perspectives. We cut through the clutter to identify what matters to the audience, what drives value for the business, and what pushes technology.

We are user-centered, pro-prototype and anti-hype. When we see a breakthrough opportunity, we invest in substantiating ideas. We embrace the unfinished, pursuing perfection one iteration at a time.

We put working prototypes in front of people as quickly as possible. We learn by listening, observing, and analyzing behaviors. We push to make the prototype more useful, more usable, and more desirable — then put it in front of people again. Constant iteration places users at the center of our design process.

I have been working at Mutual Mobile full-time (less than a year)

The environment at Mutual Mobile is great. Everything is open, the company treats us well and is very concerned about culture/employee satisfaction. Clients are pleased, and keep coming back. As of now, the company is growing and there is great potential for growth continuing in the future. I think this speaks volumes, as many employees stuck around through a rough patch a few years ago to get where we are today. There's lots of change- and I see that as a huge pro right now.

Beware, there is an 'in-crowd'. The same open communication that provides a great environment, turns into high school gossip rather quickly.
Unfortunately, hard work and proven results isn't always enough to get you places. If someone on upper management has you on their list, for even the pettiest of reasons, it's hard to get off.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There are some ego struggles, but I'm not sure what else can be expected when the CEOs are so young. However, M + T are great leaders and really care about the direction of the company. I'm both shocked and pleased at their involvement in even the smallest decisions and admire their passion. Their strengths are also their weaknesses, but the senior Executive Team members balance them out well when needed. I don't always believe the upper management always makes the best decisions, but I do want to stress that they're transparent and are willing to address concerns.

Questions were more situational and not many technical questions. Was asked what the key difference is testing on iOS vs. testing on Android. The phone interview lasted roughly 45 minutes. Was pretty straight forward and you get a good feel of what the QA team is like and how they operate.
